This is a local product, originally developed in Rohnert Park by the Crane family. I cut my first one of the season open tonight, and remembered all over again why it's so special. Orange-fleshed, very aromatic but not the musky aroma of cantalope that bothers me. Very concentrated flavor with more complexity and not just sweetness, sort of like a cross between a cantalope and sharlyn. Soft buttery flesh.
This one was purchased from Andy's Produce on the Gravenstein Hwy. in Sebastopol. I've also bought them in years past at the farmers market in Healdsburg.
