Craggy Range - Whitefish, MT

I recently paid a visit to Whitefish, MT. A friend of mine was isolating herself at her parents' condo to finish up her Masters thesis, and I went down to help her keep her sanity for a day or two.

We went into town one night and tried to find a good place to eat and also a place that would show the Penguins/Capitals Game 7 (finding NHL in Montana ain't so easy). We hopped into the Craggy Range Bar & Grill, and asked the girl at the bar if they could put the game on...she said "sure thing"...and we were sold :)

This place has a great, rustic feel to it. I wouldn't say it has a "country" feel to it....more like an "old west meets modern day" sort of vibe. We sat in the bar area, obviously, because that's where the TVs were.

There were a LOT of dishes on the menu that I was considering...the choices were quite broad. My friend ordered one of their salads (I think it was called the slope salad), and it looked delectable (didn't try it myself). I ordered the Bleu Onion burger, which was absolutely AMAZING! I was a little bit hesitant, because most often, if a burger has BBQ sauce on it...all you can taste is the BBQ sauce because it's so overbearing. This burger was quite the opposite. It's a burger with cheese (I think), topped with friend onion strings, BBQ sauce and gorgonzola cheese. The combination of the cheese & BBQ sauce was deeeelish! Beware though, it can get a little messy!

I also recommend getting the "range fries" on the side. Basically, it's their regular fries, coated in roasted garlic and parmesean cheese...accompanied by a garlic aioli/mayo dipping sauce.

Even though it was just the two of us, we were very impressed with this spot. The service was excellent, and it's got a great atmosphere to it. We didn't get a chance to see if the dining menu was any different, but if the rest of their food comes close to what we can't go wrong!
