a COWGIRL thanksgiving

we've been going several years now on and off. the verdicct this year is hit and miss.

starter of deviled eggs and biscuits w/ honey butter was perfect.

the turkey was outstanding, perfectly cooked and lots of it. sides of mashed potatos, peas and carrots and gravy w/ mushrooms were all just fine. salad greens w/ shredded pecans and squash soup w/creme fraiche were both just ok.

downside was the stuffing, which was mushy and terrible. it was odd tasting and overly peppery and just....mush. i realize this is the only idiosyncratic item of "the meal," but this was terrible. i like it with discernable bread and crunchy celery at least.

another bust was the wine. i grabbed a bottle of some california junk called 2003 joel gott zinfandel for $33 (since it ws $9/glass anyway). bleech. raw. fruity alcoholic grape juice. even worse finish. juvenile. reminded me why i don't drink much american cali wine the rest of the year. serves me right for getting wine at COWGIRL i shoulda had a marg or a lone star.

pumpkin and apple pie were not so hot either, ok at best. but ya can only manage two bites anyway so whatev.

cost was $34/pp. i did not like how they pre-added in an 18% tip to the bill, but i understand. service is fine btw as always. so there it is, i may get sushi next year haha!
