For my Sunday morning in Nipomo, I lobbied "toodie jane" to try The Cowgirl Cafe as I'd read elsewhere that the biscuits and gravy were good. This place has the look and feel of a local diner with a Western theme, but the small chain's locations actually stretch to Florida and Texas.
The corned beef hash will be housemade when the owner has time to come down from Paso to do the honors. But on this day, no such luck, the hash looked and tasted canned.
I ordered the B&G as a side, testing the waters with just one. The biscuit was fluffy. The white gravy had some bites of bacon and sausage and plenty of black pepper, but nothing too remarkable.
There was a constant line of parties waiting to sit down. The friendly staff's efficiency in turning tables and realigning them to accommodate large family groups was noteworthy.
