Happy New Year...had dinner there last night and ordered off of the standard menu--not a NYE menu.
Had been awhile since I last ate here and will probably be awhile before I return. Nothing bad, mind you, but nothing that stood out either. I ordered my standard skirt steak, a 10 oz wagyu that came with nada de particular mashed potatoes and small serving of broccolini. Let's just say that by the time I was finished I was not thinking, "gee, I wish I had more"...maybe I've gotten spoiled from recent visits to Meat Market Miami where the skirt steak blows the one at Cowboy Star out of the water and where the yukon gold white truffle mashed potatoes are the best I've had anywhere and to die for.
I also noticed the cost of this skirt steak was $44. I could swear the last time I ate here a skirt steak cost $28. I'm not going to haggle over a few bucks and will gladly pay up for quality but I found this cut of meat to be non memorable. Not bad, not great. The next time I am in a mood for steak I will either head to Donovans, Puerto la Boca, or JRDN or I will wait for an out of town trip to Seattle (The Met or John Howie) or Miami (Meat Market, S&W, Red's, Bourbon Steak, or Edge) or NYC.
