The Courtyard in WeHo Review

BombayUpWithaTwist | Aug 29, 2005 08:22 PM

I went to the Courtyard Restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood last Sat night. The space is very quaint with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside where it was great for a warm summer evening!

We had the following to eat:

Sangria Royale...good

Special Scallop of the Day...very good, in the shell with a little bread crumbs and seasoning

Steak a lo Pobre...good, but not much blue cheese flavoring.

Seafood Paella...good, but a little salty

Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce)...good, ask for bread so you can dip it in the garlic sauce

Spanish Tortilla...ok, too much egg, not enough potato, it was too much like a fluffy omelette to me

Piquillos (small red peppers stuffed with goat cheese)...very good, one of the best parts of the meal

Pupusas...not very good, too dried out

Giant White Asparagus...not too good, I like crunch in my asparagus and these were too soggy for me. They seemed like they were canned they were so soft.

Overall, we had a nice dinner for 4, but we ordered everything at once and it all came together, so it was like a marathon eating session. I would ask them to pace the meal better. By the time we asked them to stop the food for a while the only thing left was the Paella. We finished the meal in 45 mins so we ended up at the Lodge on La Cienaga and Wilshire for after dinner drinks....which wasn't so bad because there I can get a real cocktail!
