Yesterday Jen Maiser and I happened to be in the right place at the right time. That is, we were in Sunshine Foods in St. Helena when they were offering samples of their holiday pies. The sweet potato pecan from Sweetie Pies is terrific with a rich and mellow sweet potato filling, crunchy nuts, and a cookie-like crust.
And, recently I had a serving of pumpkin cheesecake from Citizen Cake at a party. More pulpy than creamy, the pumpkin was an integral part and not just a flavoring.
