Couple of recent Asheville NC experiences

We tried a couple of new places lately:
Gan Shan Station Friday after Tgiving lunch. It was good. I had heard some (extremely) negative things, but we liked everything, which is rare for us ;-) The special kale and persimmon salad was especially nice. Husband like the Korean fried chicken special and the cucumber salad that accompanied. The vegetarian ramen had a log of interesting veggies (charred cauliflower and shishitos in particular). It was WAY too expensive at $15, I mean RAMEN...but anyhow.

Smokey Park Supper Club on a Saturday lunch. We liked it too, with a few reservations. We were offered the bar menu according to the server, but he was a little unclear as to whether it's always that menu at lunch, or if it was limited because we got there around 3. I had 3 vegetable sides and then made my husband order the sandwich I wanted (I'm awful). All good except the Brussels were just so-so. Friend had a burger that I didn't try but she liked it. Pisgah Pale, and about a dozen others on tap. GREAT space.

Not new, but we went back to Zambra for dinner for the first time in many years. it was an OK meal, but no where near the quality it was 5-6 years ago, at least not that Sat. night. I doubt we will go back, given all the other options in town.

Oh, and we're late to the game on discovering the Bywater...but I love it. We are already planning a Bywater-centric tubing trip when it gets hot next year.
