Breakfast at Ciro's in East LA this morning marked the 100th restaurant I have tried recommended in Jonathan Gold's "Counter Intelligence". My goal is to try every restaurant in the book and as it says "over 200" listings I guess I am just under halfway!
As an Australian living in LA for just a couple of years it seems a fun way to achieve two aims - to try a lot of foods and places that I normally wouldn't (and would never have found on my own), and to get to explore a lot more of LA than the normal tourist attractions. I've put a lot of miles on my car! I think I will have to save "Living Fish Center" until last - that's going to be a tough one...
I've included as tried restaurants that I've attempted to visit but that seem to no longer be in business. Here are some of them - if anyone knows of any of these that have relocated rather than ceased operation altogether I'd be grateful for the info! I don't have the book in front of me so hope I remembered the names right.
Benita's Fries (tried Santa Monica and Universal Citywalk locations)
Golden Dome, Bellflower
Chamika Sri Lankan, Hollywood
