I have seen the Cosi sandwich shops around town, but until today, never ate in one. Today, for lunch, I went to the one on 36th Street, just West of 7th Avenue. I ordered the special. Lean corned beef, Swiss cheese and spicy mustard on their flat bread. Only tap water to drink. The price for the sandwich alone, with tax, came to $7.85. This is the most I have ever paid for a sandwich in the midtown area. The place was practically empty when I went in (12:10PM), and only a few people there when I left. (12:40PM) The cashier offered me one of those buy 9 meals, get the 10th free cards, but I declined. The questions are: is this sandwich shop overpriced? Are they pricing themselves out of the market. are the other branches just as empty as this during lunch time? how can they make it with these rather high prices? Speaking for myself, I'll never go back.
