It's been on our list for a while, and today was the day. I met my wife for lunch there. She wanted the traditional Oggie, while I tried out the Lamb and Mint pasty. The pasty pastry (confused yet?) was delicious and flakey, while still maintaining its integrity. That turns out to be important because the pasties are large.
The Oggie was nicely flavored but a bit too salty. The Lamb and Mint was quite nice. Both came with red wine gravy, which helped to overcome a touch of dryness.
There's quite a selection of pasties, including southwestern, Indian, Italian, etc. There are also vegetarian and vegan pasties.
In the time since the very earliest reviews came in, Cornish Pasty Co. has obtained a booze license. I have to say a pint doesn't go amiss with a pasty.
