Corner Bistro--First Timer

I Live out of town and have been wanting to try Corner Bistro for quite some time now. I happened to be walking by today around lunchtime when I poked my head in and saw plenty of empty space. Eureka! Finally I get to try the stuff of NY legend.

Sat at the bar where a real friendly guy promptly took my order...Rolling Rock and a Bistro Burger medium rare(burger with lettuce, tomato, pickle, raw onion and bacon). Sat enjoying what appeared to be lots of locals chat while soaking up my suds. Burger arrived about 10 minutes later.

The short of it is, I loved this burger! (I know it's subject of much debate here.) To start, it was cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered...many places have a hard time getting that right, so big points in my book. I temporarily removed the bacon, lettuce, etc, so I could get a good taste of just the meat. It was fresh, with a really nice "beefy" taste, unlike a lot of frozen generic burgers served by lots of places. The first bite produced a gush of juices, which I rather liked (although again, I know from reading here it's not everyone's cup of tea). It wasn't "monstrous" like some of the steroid laden burgers served by other places. Thought it was a perfect size for lunch. I probably wolfed it down a little too quickly, but I really enjoyed it. Total damage was $9.75 for the burger and beer, and I was in and out in about 25 minutes.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience and I'd definitely go again.
