Corned Beef Taste-Off - A Surprise!

We did our corned beef, cabbage, root veggies, etc. last night instead of the 17th. For some reason now forgotten we didn't want to corn our own so we got 3 brands available here in Southern California: Bill Bailey brand from Costco at $2.60 a pound, Niman Ranch from Trader Joe's at $4.50 a pound and Boar's Head from Gelson's at $7.00 a pound. All flat cuts. Cooked them in a mix of Guiness, beef stock and water with carrots, onions, celery, pickeling spice and whatever spice packet the CB came with. Cooked for 3 hours then stored in the broth in the fridge overnight, discarded the cooked veggies, added new veggies and cabbage the next day and finished the cooking for about another hour or so. I was the only one who knew which CB was which. There were 4 of us and the unamious fav was.....Bailey from Costco. It was much more flavorful, had a tenderer texture and retained its juices much better than the others. Who would have thought?
