Corned beef at Langer's

Senor Popusa | Mar 16, 2005 02:45 AM

After reading so much about Langers I drove on down to MacArthur Park on Monday for a late lunch to check it out. I know they are famous for their pastrami, but I am of the cornedbeef persuasion - (if I ever have a choice between the two I will always pick the cornedbeef as I find it tastier) - and so I ordered the cornedbeef sandwich, some fries and a soda (free refills).

The corned beef was hand cut and nicely flavored. The rye bread was fine. A pickle came with the sandwich. The sandwich was not "tall" like some delis serve - the portion was for 1 person with no leftovers. All in all I thought it was good, but not great. I prefer the corned beef sandwich at Mort's deli in the Pacific Palisades.

Perhaps their pastrami sandwich would have wowed me more but I figured the hand cut corned beef would be worth the shlep. To each his own...

Sandwich was $10 + $2 each for fries + soda, + tax & tip.
Basically friendly diner service.
