copenhagen - cheapskate seeks decent food and poss. dim sum

kate | Mar 21, 200508:52 AM

Off to CPN for the Hans Christian Andersen festival. Never been, am very excited, and totally ignorant of Denmark's culinary traditions. Are there any special foods I should look out for, aside from smorrebroed (sp?)? Are there any local immigrant communities whose food I should seek out?

Additionally: has anyone been to Royal Garden Chinese Restaurant (see link below)? Any good? I know that Copehagen probably is not a worldwide dim sum destination, but I will do anything for the little suckers, and there's nowhere for me to feed my addiction here in Italy, or at home in South Africa.

Here's what I've gleaned from past posts. Can anyone confirm/deny that these are good spots to go? Any other reccomendations? I am interested in meals and food on the lower end of the price scale. To this end, can anyone give me a rough idea of how much these places below would cost?

Ida Davidsen - good sandwiches, but getting touristy
Pussy Galore's Flying Circus -good sandwiches

Cafe Sorgenfri - Lunch
Kanal Kafeen -boisterous local lunch place
Kafe Salonen - regularly changing menu, good for snacks and for lucnh

Buffet-style Turkish:

Many thanks!
