Coop's Place

I'm in New Orleans now and want to say thanks to those that recommended Coops. A group of 7 of us went and had outstanding food - best jambalaya I've ever had, great shrimp remoulade, good cajun fried chicken, excellent crab stuffed jalapeno poppers, fried shrimp and oysters, all good. The small dining room was packed while other nearby restaurants stood nearly empty.

Service was a bit spotty but at least energetic! Great choce all around for a casual spot with excellent cajun-inspired food.

We've also hit Mothers and a bunch of praline shops already. Mothers debris was in fine form, the place was packed at lunchtime. Our favorite pralines hands down are Southern Candymakers (I think that's the name) where Decatur hits Peters.

Also hit the Maple Leaf for some excellent jazz/funk last night, with Ivan Neville stepping on stage to sing.

Up tonight is Galatoires (not my choice, but I'm hoping for an interesting experience at least). Lunch tomorrow will be a muffuletta at Central Grocery.

New Orleans is one of my favorite places in this great wide world.
