Had a wonderful first dinner at Cookshop, on 10th AVe., Saturday night..
Great looking place inside, good lighting, crisp decor. Sat by the open kitchen and rotisserie, great spot.. Promptly sat, although we were 15 mins. late for reservation.
Feeling cozy and with cocktails, I first had the spicy hominy snack, jsut out of curiosity.. Very delicious, like corn nuts, fried.. Only had a few though.
Husband had the Florida Shrimp in grits app... wow, what a great smokey taste.. The sauce on it was fabulous.
For dinner, I had the pizza, which was an appetizer, but was large enough for a meal, plate sized. It had mozzarella and oyster mushrooms and I think truffle oil.. Wow, so good. The crust was more pastry-ish than a pizza dough.. Just scrumptious.
Husband had the short ribs on grits.. Large portion, he loved it.
Desserts were the ice cream sandwich for me. It was two delicious cookies stuffed with milk chocolate ice cream with a caramel sauce, a few slices of banana and chocolate bark on top.. Just heavenly..
He had the warm apple cake with carmelized dates on top.. Sounded blah, but tasted incredible..
All in all, it was one of the best meals we've had in awhile.. Cookshop is now one of our top 5 NYC spots.. Can't wait to return and try some other items.. Highly recommended.
