I have a 3rd date this week with a lady, whom I'm smitten with.

I make a great home made marinara sauce already, but i've always wanted to add a slight dash of a good, non funky flavor adding, red wine

What kind of wine should I use, where I can just walk into my local wine store and pick it off the shelf and add a nice (while not imparting negative flavor profiles) touch to my already solid red sauce recipe???

Now, there are wine speciality shops and there are just wine/spirits stores where I am. So I'd guess I'd go to either.

It would be nice to drink the wine with dinner also, so I guess I'd be willing to spend up to $40-50 on a bottle, some to drink with and some to cook with.

Please help this hopeless romantic make his already great sauce into a homerun...

Help me Obi-Wan Chowhound, you're my only hope....

Thanks, ahead of time, for everyone's help!!
