Cooking FOR OTHERS in the time of COVID-19

I wanted to prepare some soup for a family in our condo building because one member of the family is very ill (not with COVID-19, thank goodness, but very ill nonetheless). But after reading a Chowhounder's post about someone throwing away food s/he had been given, I am having second thoughts.

I am not concerned about safety of the food. I checked with a food safety expert at our university and he said that hot foods such as soups and casseroles, prepared with clean hands in a clean kitchen, quickly chilled and refrigerated, then delivered cold to be reheated by the recipient should be just fine. (Scaling up to feed larger groups is a different story, but I would not be doing that.)

I think most people would have no problem consuming food prepared by a family member or close friend, even at this time. But what about food prepared by people you don't know that well? Do you think most people at this time will be unwilling to eat food prepared for them by a family they don't know very well?
