I love renting condos when we go out of town, because I can cook instead of going out to eat. It saves money and I don't gain weight. But it can be a challenge trying to figure out what to bring and what to cook. We have an upcoming trip where we will be driving, and thus I have more flexibility in what I can bring. Over the course of five days, I will be cooking for several (six to ten) very hungry (athletes, some of them teenagers) people in a kitchen I have never seen before. There is a small grocery store in town, but I will have limited access to transportation. Our schedules will be unpredictable, and make-ahead or crockpot items seem like the best strategy. There are also several picky eaters in the group.
Cooking is the one part of the trip I am really looking forward to. I need to get planning (we leave in less than a week), but I find that I'm lacking inspiration. Does anyone have advice on feeding a picky mob for cheap, and for making it happen in a mystery kitchen?
