my sister is a cooking novice. she eats out a lot, or has deadly prepared stuff, and simple cooking tasks take a lot of futz-ing and fussing.
so for christmas, i decided to spend the day teaching her how to cook, starting with an instructional trip to the grocery store. we'll probably meet up this weekend or next to do it.
any suggestions for basic, low maintenance, easy to make meals that i can teach her would be appreciated. i was thinking some basic vegetable preparations, soups, pastas, pizza, salads, but i figured you all would have great things to add. (and i almost never cook with meat, so if you have easy meaty ideas, that would be great too).
oh, and she's fats phobic-- avoiding cream and butter and, sadly enough, olives, would also be helpful to meeting her tastes.
