Cooking frozen fish filets

I've purchased some frozen monkfish filets from Trader Joe's.

I recall some time ago reading that frozen fish filets cooked up better by throwing them into the pan while still frozen rather than thawing them first.

I have also cooked frozen fish only after first thawing it (typically in a bowl of milk).

Does anyone have any thougths about this former method?
