I got a B&N gift card for Christmas and had a few books in mind but decided to take some out of the library before spending the card. Okay, I know Zuni has gotten good press here but frankly I don't get it. The chicken recipe looks good and also looks good in CL's photos but I could only find a couple more recipes that interested me and I guess I just am not in need of anymore books that instruct. The next was Sunday Suppers at Lucques and I have that on reserve at my library and am waiting to read theough it, while I was there I picked up a copy of Nigella Bites and found any number of things that had me saying "I've got to try that!"
The last 2005 tip? It is from Nigella. Grate garlic on your Microplane. It works like a charm. I have a Suzi press that I have sworn by for years but tried the microplane tonight and I am converted, especially for large cloves. I am just disappointed to find that she puts sugar and flour in cornbread but she is not from a cornbread tradition so one has to make allowances.
The only cookbook I have looked at in the past few weeks that I do plan on obtaining is the Damon Lee Fowler's New Southern Baking Book, but I have talked about that before.
