I LOVE cookbooks! I recently bought, The Berkeley Bowl Cookbook by Laura McLively. She had (or has?) a blog about shopping at Berkeley Bowl and that blog became a cookbook! I am sorry to say I never read her blog, but I love her cookbook.
I love what she says about buying different fruits and vegetables one has never tasted or cooked.
I've always felt that way and last Saturday at farmer's market in the city I got some cranberry beans from Dirty Girl Farm.
I asked a lady that was also buying them how she cooked them. She told me she just boiled them. That's what I did and they are so tasty and meaty!!
However, WHY didn't I look at The Berkeley Bowl Cookbook for a recipe? I just found Three Sisters Succotash with Crispy Sage on page 75. OMG! Take it up a zillion notches! Next time I buy cranberry beans this will be on the menu.
If you aren't near a Berkeley Bowl or a place like it, check out farmer's markets, produce markets, or ethnic produce markets. You will be amazed! I know I am.
