Help constructing cake: blackberry, raspberry, chocolate

bmorecupcake | Aug 5, 201505:23 PM     13

I'm baking a birthday cake today. I want the flavors to be blackberry, raspberry, and chocolate. I'd appreciate any comments on if these flavors will work together. I have already pureed the blackberries and removed most of the seeds (the blackberries aren't that sweet, unfortunately.) The raspberries I've left whole.

I have two standard, "white" cake layers. I was thinking of layering as follows, starting from the bottom: cake, some sort blackberry buttercream, a few whole blackberries, cake, some sort of chocolate (ganache or ganache frosting), raspberries studded on top.

Any ideas on the construction would also be appreciated. I was thinking if I use a true ganache on the top layer instead of the ganache frosting, I could pipe whipped cream on top.
