I'm taking my Mom to lunch tomorrow for her 73rd birthday. She lives in an elderly facility in Shelton. (I live in the Bronx). She is a shrimp fanatic. We can drive about 45 minutes from Shelton with comfort. She doesn't get out much so it's nice to visit different towns and dine, then drive around a little. We have been to Stonebridge Restaurant in Milford, a dockside "Grill" restaurant in Stratford (name escapes me), and Lenny & Joe's Fish Tales in Madison. She liked the first two, but we weren't that impressed with Fish Tales (it was the food, not the ambiance, that was the problem).
I'm looking for recommendations that are easy-access (she's in a wheelchair), a reasonable drive, with primo ocean chow and a little character. And they need to be open for lunch. Not afraid of white tablecloths, but nothing too stiff or trendy. Any suggestions?
