Still confused about grilling lobster tails...

Even after reading a previous thread on grilling lobster tails, I'm still confused about this "butterfly" thing. Should I just cut away the soft underside shell, slosh some olive oil/garlic on it, and just grill it? If I wanted to butterfly it, what would I do?
