Commander's Palace in need of botox?

Amend | Dec 7, 2009 11:38 AM

I chose Commander's Palace for a recent celebratory meal ... what a disappointment! It felt like an aging star desperately concealing her wrinkles with a tired routine and too much greasy make-up. The largest disappointment was the food: some well executed dishes (perfectly prepared veal), but ever so dull! The menu (and decor) are desperately in need of a revamp, or at least the injection of fresh personality. The whole operation is very slick, but unpolished where it matters: the waiters were very young and lacking charm -- it felt like we were being served by Tulane freshmen, albeit dressed up for the occasion. Perhaps I'm not the only one who feels this way: the dining room was far from full on a Saturday night. With so many more exciting options in New Orleans, I'm not that surprised.
