Coming Attractions -- Banana Island in Daly City

Nancy Berry | Feb 2, 200208:41 AM

Yesterday, I went shopping at the Daly City Trader Joe's in the Westlake Shopping Center. I noticed a new restaurant a few doors down from TJ's in the old Applebee's location. This place is called Banana Island and their sign says Singapore, Malaysian, Thai food. I went inside (they are just finishing construction) and asked if they were related to the place in Richmond, but they said no, that was Banana Garden. It looks to be pretty similar, though. I couldn't get a menu, but they said that they are opening next week. I can't wait! We'll probably go there next week. I'll post more info then.

Westlake Shopping Center is at the corner of Lake Merced Blvd. and John Daly Blvd. in Daly City. It's pretty close to the Daly City Bart Station.
