Friends from LA are coming over this weekend for the football game and we're also going to be celebrating a birthday. He's originally from New Orleans and requested a good Cajun place but I haven't read any good reviews of that cuisine in the Phoenix area. His next best was "comfort food". I'm just drawing a complete blank. Can anyone recommend some possibilities?

By the way, we took some other friends to Classic Italian Pizza at Baseline and Lakeshore on Friday night. I really like this place. The service can be slow but the food is very good. We split a salad with tuna and mixed veggies which was clean and tasty. I especially like the fresh homemade ricotta. The bread basket was heaven and the proscuitto pizza disappeared in a matter of minutes. We split a tiramisu that was good but not stellar. As we were leaving the owner handed me a large, lovely loaf of fresh baked bread which was delicious and such a nice gesture. This is very close to our home and I couldn't ask for a better place with a very warm, neighborhood feel.
