I keep hearing conflicting reports that the Coleman-King Sauce company, makers of "CHS Bar-B-Q sauce", may have closed their doors. It used to be carried by Piggly Wiggly in Savannah (local franchisee based out of Charleston), but it's now gone. A Piggly Wiggly on Hilton Head did have a few bottles left.
Anyone know in the Florence area if they have closed? If so, this is a big loss to BBQ & hot sauce lovers everywhere!
I own this company and we are definitely still in business. Unfortunately, Piggly Wiggly has gone under several major changes recently and some stores are no longer carrying the sauce. It is readily available around South Carolina in IGA's and some Piggly Wiggly's and Bi-Los. It is also available to a small degree in NC and Ga.Please ask and encourage your local grocery stores to begin carrying this. I will respond to any email: baragape@earthlink.net
Thanks and please feel free to twitter and facebook this info.
Well hot dawg! I was wondering about CHS myself (Do you still label it CHS?) I am transplanted here in Orlando FL from Kingstree SC and I really do miss my CHS. Winn Dixie Stores down here used to carry it but no more. How can I get some down here? Is it possible to get a home shipment? What is your minimum order quantity?
Winn Dixie actually owns Bi-Lo now and, of course, I would love to see them carry it in their Florida stores. It is always difficult to convince stores to commit space to more variety. Shipping cost are rather prohibitive since sauce is a heavy liquid. For instance, I priced a 4 gallon case to St. Petersburg via UPS and while I charge $50 for the case, UPS wanted about $27 to deliver. My wife's family happens to come from Salters.
I am so happy to hear that Coleman's BBQ sauce is still available. I have migrated to Atlanta, GA but have bought your sauce on trips back to Florence or Myrtle Beach to visit family that still live there. Have you considered an online business? With social media helping businesses grow online sales it might be something to think about. I would love to have that option since my trips to SC seem to be few and far between.
I manufacture it here in Florence. It's still available to the Piggly Wiggly's that are open in South Carolina and it is in IGA's- google igaguy for locations that should all carry it. Also, yes it is sold on ebay. I only wholesale it by the pallet. Thank you for your interest- from another born and bred Savanniahian.
