Cold Meals

Dukeofyork | Aug 8, 2005 01:13 PM

Up here in Toronto it's been mighty hot for weeks on end. But I've found that aside from the unpleasantness of cooking in warm weather, I really dislike having to 'rush' to finish my meals. I hate hot food going cold (bletch!).

I really enjoy cold meals because I feel I can sit and savour them for an hour or more.... slowly making my way around the plate. One of my favourites is a traditional English 'ploughman's lunch' ... bread, cheese, pickled onions, some apple...

What are some other good ideas that I might not have thought of? Salads are obvious, but I'm thinking more of 'traditional' cold plates from France, Germany, Spain, etc... I like imagining I'm tucking into nice cool meal in a far off place.
