coffee in Everett, pre-symphony dinner downtown SEA

I'll be visiting relatives in Everett, WA over New Year's. Can you recommend:

A good coffeeshop with pastries in Everett?

A place for a nice, but inexpensive (<$20 per entree) pre-symphony meal near Benaroya Hall? I would be excited about sushi, seafood, Vietnamese, or any other unique ethnic eatery. We would need a place that could get us to symphony hall by 7:30 or so, preferably within walking distance.

Also, I've been cruising through some of the threads and must think of a reasonable excuse to get to the Tamarind Tree. It sounds amazing! What are some cool sights close by? The university district doesn't sound like much of a tourist destination. (I know this is a non-food question, so feel free to ignore if it makes your blood boil).
