Coconut chocolate bars at Mezze

Adam Stephanides | Mar 3, 2000 07:18 PM

In the spirit of "quick tips," I had a delicious coconut chocolate bar at Mezze, a quick-lunch place at 10 E. 44th St. It was about two inches by three, with a coconut pudding-like "filling" on top, plenty of chocolate chips in the middle, and a greasy pastry crust below. All in all, satisfyingly gooey and rich, and probably the best example of the "dessert bar" genre (which I'm not a crazy about in general) that I've encountered.

Incidentally, while I've only been to a few Midtown lunch buffets, of the ones I've been to Mezze was by far the best (admittedly that's not saying very much, but it really is good).
