Coco Donuts & Coffee | Boise - NE Portland

Melanie Wong | Oct 1, 201803:26 AM

After lunch at XLB https://www.chowhound.com/post/xlb-bo... , I considered heading downtown where the new headquarters of Blue Star would be giving away free donuts. Naw, that would take more energy than I had to give.

Instead I poked around my neighborhood to find an alternative. Lucky me, Coco Donuts was less than two blocks away.

One of the day's specials was carrot cake. Very light and tender, the carrot element was subtle and lightly spiced. This was more akin to a delicate pastry than a donut.

The Signature Coco, a raised chocolate donut with chocolate glaze and coffee beans felt like Portland's personality encapsulated in donut form.

I also tried a buttermilk old-fashioned, but liked these other two much more.

Coco Donuts interior is super cute with pink accents. I'd happily return for the handcrafted, finessed donut style. Coco roasts its own coffee, which I did not order. Opinions?
