Cocina Esperanza: Sea

Ballardite | Jan 13, 200412:53 PM     1

Thought I'd give this new Ballard restaurant a try even after the negative posting. Fantastic food, service o.k. The small restaurant was full on a Saturday night and we were last to be seated at an open table. We were attended to promptly, the specials sounded very interesting, maybe a little Latin flavor to go along with the more traditional Mexican. We tried the chicken enchiladas (four) in a verde salsa served with pinto beans. The chicken had hints of lime and the verde was perfect, the pinto beans were suprisingly flavorful as were the black beans served with our other dish, a pan-fried thick cut pork chop. It had been pineapple and spices to tenderize, then cooked perfect and served with mango on top, along with fresh veggies and black beans.

I will definitely be going back, and am hoping that as a new restaurant their service will only improve (the only negative was that it was slow, but they were very friendly and were trying hard).
