Coastal Camping and Food from Rockland Maine, North to Nova Scotia

The Rogue | Jun 26, 2003 09:45 AM

This year in addition to my monthly stay in Union, Maine near Camden and Rockland, I will be doing a two week camping trip north along the coast, hopefully as far as Nova Scotia. I am leaving near the end of July. We are a group of three to four guys and would like to hear about a few night spots as well. More in the Jazz /RB theme... or '80's rock. I am familiar with Thomaston to Camden and Bar Harbor / Acadia but would like to hear about great and unusual spots for camping and food along the way. I prefer real Maine food and chowhoundish "finds" over fine dining. One person in our group can't eat seafood. (An allergy to crustaceans and shellfish as well as some fish. What a bummer for him! At least he eats everything else.) We prefer state and national parks for camping, not family thronged private campgrounds. Thanks for your help. I'll post in detail when I get back. I'm taking my laptop, cellular modem, and other gadgets this year and may even be able to post along the way.
