Last week I snagged lunch at St. Helena's version of street food, Clif Family Bruschetteria truck.
The truck is parked outside the tasting room on Tuesday through Sunday.
Once you've ordered and paid, a buzzer alerts you when your order is ready.
Many choices, including September seasonal options, but I settled on the porchetta bruschetta, $12. Made with Long & Bailey Farm Farms pork from Manteca, fresh herbs, red onion, squiggles of excellent aioli and a dusting of pecorino, this was cut into six pieces to be easier to eat. The porchetta included the loin and belly cuts, shaved thin. Some of the meat was on the dry side and clumped together, as if it has been sliced far ahead of time. The pork had a nice natural sweetness, and the seasoning was mostly fennel pollen with some garlic in the background.
The truck has a few cafe tables and chairs on the adjoining sidewalk. One can also eat in the tasting room or outdoor patio and enjoy a glass of wine. I opted for the shaded patio surrounded by lemon verbena and fresh herbs.
Besides bruschette, the menu offers rotisserie chicken, hot link, salads, sides and desserts.
Anyone else tried it?
