Cleaning cast iron grates on gas stove

jacquelyncoffey | Dec 14, 2014 05:41 PM

Hi, I just got my first gas stove, and am already not pleased with having to clean the grates (I wish they were enamel). With my old electric coil stove, I would just turn on the burners to burn off any grease. Do I really need to wash and dry the grates everytime? Any tips/tricks for cleaning them. I would imagine if they had a lot of grease on them, it would eventually get sticky. Will they "season" like a cast iron skillet? Please give me your expert advice - thanks.
