Cleaning Berry Seeds from a Chinois...

Anyone have any tips on cleaning berry seeds from a chinois? Last year when I made a huge batch of blackberry syrup for sauces and sorbet I had this same problem. I just ended up cleaning it and sending it through the dishwasher sevearal times. I was thinking about using a toothbrush. But perhaps there's something that might dissolve the seeds a bit without hurting the fine mesh. Any tips appreciated. Thanks.
