To everyone in St. Louis--
I would strongly recommend that you support and patronize the Clayton Farmers Market. It's held every Saturday between now and end of October, from 8 am until noon, on the northern end of Central Ave.
This is a smaller market, but all of the produce is grown locally and is, for the most part, organic. Last week vendors sold wonderful vegs, esp. the lettuces and asparagus, meats, cheeses and flowers. Kaldi's is out selling coffee, and St. Louis U students are out making omlets with the various produce, including fresh organic eggs. I was able to build an entire Mother's Day menu from only items at the market.
Additionally, chefs from great restaurants are there doing demonstrations and tours of the market. I talked to the chef from Sadie's about my menu ideas, and he pointed me in some good directions.
Please support this great resource. Hopefully, with more shoppers, the purveyors will grow, and this will become an institution.
