Does anyone have any experience with Miriam's earthware or clay pots more generally for making yogurt? After a bunch of fails, I finally made yogurt successfully. However, the bottom of the pot is scorched pretty black and I can't get the milk to heat enough without causing some scorching of the milk at the bottom of the pot (I put the burner (gas range) on medium low and start it at very low. It takes almost an hour to get it heated properly!). And it's very difficult to clean - i scrubbed and scrubbed and then dried and put the pot away - a week later - mold all over it! I have to say that I have kind of had it with this pot.... But it was pricey and I DO love the yogurt. Any ideas? Could it be that I have a bad pot in terms of heat conduction? How do you clean your clay pot?
