Clams in Black Bean Sauce

Steve | Jun 18, 2004 05:20 PM

Please help me find a place in Flushing that serves authentic clams with black bean sauce made with scallions and not big chunks of green peppers and onions. I used to rely on Sunlokkee in Manhattan for a good version, but their Flushing branch has been a big dissapointment (gave them 10 chances and will not return again)....Sunlokkee in Manhattan was pretty filthy, but I never got sick there. Their beautified digs in Flushing were an aesthetic improvement but don't know what happened to the food.

So, that being said, is it possible to find a place that will not freak my wife out (she gets very panicky in obviously dirty places), and where I can find myself a new haunt for one of my favorite dishes.

By the way, the best version I ever had is at Sangs, another dump, in North Miami Beach, Florida. I get it every time I'm there to visit the folks.

Thanks for the help from you flushing experts!
