I burried this in an Astoria post, and I think it maybe be a little known fact that deserves to be outed.
Pinnochio Restaurant, on 32nd st. and 30th ave. in Astoria makes seriously wonderful clam sauce, both red and white. I've had several other dishes there, the pizza's okay, the fried calamari are okay, the eggplant dip was pretty horrid the one time I tried it. But every time I order linguini with red or white clam sauce, the pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, a generous portion of fresh, fresh shelled clams sitting atop it, several extra fresh, fresh clams in shells as a garnish, and an honest, simple sauce. I'm usually very skeptical of the Greek/Italian dual menu (or Thai/Japanese a la the new Planet Thailand (idiotically inferior name to Plan Eat Thailand, but this is a huge, huge diversion)) but go give this a try and tell me if I'm crazy.
