The missus and I met a friend from Nashville who was staying at the Biltmore (aMAZing joint!), then were joined by another mutual friend, and after a drink or two we started walking. He suggested Pinot (h'mmm), then Water Grill (yikes$$!), then Ciudad. That sounded good, so we went on over. Glad we did.
The two Vanderbilt grads shared a stunningly good mojito or two (we two, forced off booze for a while, each had a taste and cursed our fate). They proceeded with bowls of delightful tortilla soup, then shared an order of plantains and one of some goat-cheese-filled doodads whose name I didn't catch (and it's not on the online menu), but which were yummy - I even liked the honey on the plate. My sweetie had the paella, of which I got just a tiny bite of chicken (good, though), and I had a special of braised rabbit served on a bed of creamed peas with longitudinally-sliced steamed yellow carrots and some shredded serrano ham. It was a good dish - the rabbit was if anything too mild-tasting, firm but tender to the bite. In retrospect, I think some bolder flavors would have done more justice to that nice bunny.
Service was very pleasant, both prompt and friendly. I have no idea what it all came to, as the other guy grabbed the check (dang!), but mine was just $20 and well worth it. Love the crisp flatbreads and tapenade and stuff, too. And the room. And after I'm off these meds I'm going back for a mojito!
