city steakhouses besides lugar's?

roark dunn | May 2, 199901:39 PM     1

in my family, birthdays and celebrations equal
peter lugar's for steaks. we never felt the need to try
any other high-end places. due to poor planning this
time around, we can't get our party into lugar's on the
right night at the right time.
now i'm kind of excited to discover somewhere else
yummy but want to make the right choice. where to go? i
think it's probably between the palm, smith & wollensky
or michael jordan's. the post house sound's kind of
stuffy and spark's sounds a bit touristy. any feedback?
what about maloney & porcelli? the cracklin' pork
roast sounds killer!
has smith & wollensky lost anything? is the palm
really great? what about michael jordan's?
anyplace i'm overlooking? should be somewhere that
feels like a "destination", is comfortable for a large
and hungry party and is delicious. also considering
chiarrascura plataforma, which has been pretty darn
good if you are patient enough to wait for the good
stuff to come to your table.
need to know soon ya'll! thanks
