I Went to the just-opened City Limits Diner in Stamford today. IT's in a weird area without any other restaurants, esp. those open long hours. It's welcome in that sense. The whole thing feels very corporate dining to me though. Everything is kind of pre-fab(except for the "home"(machine) made breads). Pancakes come with sides of fruit indicating less than customized cooking. My wife's egg white omelette was tasty but it was obvious the filler's were predone and then tossed in later. I had a huge middle eastern appetizer platter that was ok at best. Then a "fresh" yellowfin tuna salad sandwich that was very nice. My parents got breakfasty things like French Toast and Waffles that looked average. The below average coffee really sealing the deal for me.
I hope they can tighten things up a bit but they seem to be really concerned more about efficiency than soulful American cooking from what I've seen and read about this diner in the local papers.
