Citizen Cake - what is it all about?

Sharon S. | Jan 25, 2008 08:15 AM

I recently had lunch at Citizen Cake. I have been there quite a bit over the years, and one time previously after they finished their recent remodel and it was fine. This time we waited 45 minutes to get our food and believe me that really can color your whole dining experience (especially if you are on your lunch break from work). I ordered fish tacos which may seem like a weird thing to get, but If you look at the lunch menu it is basically salads, sandwiches and pizza. Anyway, it sounded good “friends of the yucatan crispy fish tacos, habanero salsa cabbage and avocado” and it was good. Two small tacos, solo, for $11 is a little over the top I think, but you are paying for atmosphere I guess. For dessert we split flight of petits gateaux ($12) which was very nice, but yes, very petite. We also had the cheesecake lightened soymilk frozen macadamia satsuma marmalade which was also $12 and not too good. Do people really go out of their way to eat here?
