In making a reservation for Carol and I this morning I found that despite the announced opening of September 15th they only feel comfortable enough with the progress of their construction to begin accepting reservations for the month of October. Also, like Laboratorio and Maestro they seem to have preferred tables. Apparently there are tables right in front of the exhibition kitchen. Taking a chance I requested one and was told that "this should be fine." Hmmm.
Their pastry chef is the former pastry chef from The Fifth Floor in San Francisco which is considered one of that city's two or three best restaurants. A page from the Mandarin's website is linked below.
