I have friends who moved to Los Angeles and they say they that what they miss is a good deli,if it is a German, Polish, Italian, Los Angeles people say the deli's out west just are not the same as there hometown Chicago. I hear people from out of town also mention what they miss is the good pizza we have. I have travelled out of town much, and never see a place like,Jimmy's Hot Dogs, Gene & Judes, Parky's. Or never come across a Polish establishment like The White Eagle in Niles or Andy's Deli, Mary's restaurant in Humboldt Park, or Warsaw Inn in Mchenry.
Maybe I never looked hard enough, but I very seldom find a good German restaurant except in Milwaukee. New York has some great places, but otherwise if your looking for great European food there is nothing like the midwest or New York.
